10월 1일 이후부터는 25주 등록시 방학기간이 9~10주로 짧아져서 총 8개월(34~35주)동안 체류가 가능해진다고 합니다.

This mail is to update you on some important changes to the student immigration policies in Ireland announced this week.
First of all let me say that we very much welcome these changes. As a quality school and member of MEI we have been campaigning vigorously along with other MEI schools for more effective regulation so that the low quality schools can no longer tarnish the reputation of schools like Atlas who are providing a quality service.
The following changes specifically relate to all non-EEA (European Economic Area) students who wish to travel to Ireland on a study and work visa.
- All schools in Ireland will now have to have learner protection agreements so that if a school closes the students are guaranteed to move to another school at no extra cost. As a member of MEI Atlas already has that learner protection in place.
- All schools who wish to accept non-EEA students on a student visa programme will be assessed and inspected to ensure they deliver a quality service. Schools who are not accredited and who do not get their courses validated will not be allowed to take non-EEA students on study / work visa programmes.
Changes to Academic Year Study and Work Visa
As you know all students studying for an Academic Year get a visa for one year and can study for 25 weeks and take holidays for up to 27 weeks.
From 1st October 2015 under the new regulations students:
- Will be able to get a visa for a maximum of 8 months (34 or 35 weeks). Please note: Students currently studying on an Academic Year course get their visa for 12 months.
- Must study for 25 weeks and can take the remainder of the weeks as holidays (9 or 10 weeks).
- Can continue to work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) while studying, but can only work full-time (40 hours per week) if they take their 9 or 10 weeks holidays during the months of May, June, July, August and over the Christmas period from 15th December to 15th January.
- Can stay in Ireland for a total of three 8-month courses, a total of 2 years, studying English.
- Can only take holidays after the student has completed 8 weeks of their course. We will have an induction meeting with each student on arrival to decide on the most suitable time to take their holidays.
For any students registered to start at Atlas before the 1st October the existing rules will apply, so they will get their visa for 12 months and can take holidays for 27 weeks.
For all students who have already enrolled and start their course after 1st October 2015 the new rules will apply.
We understand that the change about the length of stay permitted for students may not be good news for your students but we would strongly encourage you to try to get the message across that these new regulations are being put in place to protect students and ensure that only high quality language schools in Ireland are permitted to welcome non-EEA students.
